The studio announced earlier this year that the film would open on May 20, 2022 to the satisfaction of the ComScore ratings firm. Currently, Reese Witherspoon, who played Warner in the 2001 film, is attached to star in the sequel. Producers Adam Siegel and Marc Platt will also be involved in the new movie.
According to E! Online, Reese Witherspoon has confirmed that she will return for another movie based on the beloved comedy. She will produce it through her Hello Sunshine studio, and the film will be directed by Mindy Kaling. Though the film has not yet been confirmed, Witherspoon has said that she is “absolutely” interested in returning to the role of Elle Woods.
